10-month-old Ozarks infant released from hospital after authorities say mom’s boyfriend admitted to ‘bear hugging’ the child

A 10-month-old boy from Newton County is now home from the hospital after fighting for his life after the boyfriend of his mother admitted to bear-huggering him.

Baby Waylon, who is 10 months old, just got home from the hospital last Thursday. His injuries will affect him for the rest of his life, according to his family.

Waylon’s dad, Tyler Burbridge, said, “He has pretty much been reset to a newborn.”

The child was in critical condition at a Kansas City hospital for about a month and a half.

In September, Waylon, who was 10 months old at the time, was put in a baby jumper by his mother while she went to the bathroom.

At the time, Jordan Boggess was her boyfriend. He is said to have picked up Waylon and thrown him into the air, but the second throw missed.

“He pretty much killed my son.” He took the future of my son. His dad told him, “You don’t just throw a baby up in the air.”

He told the deputies that he tightly hugged Waylon like a bear until he stopped crying. Investigators think Boggess abused children. However, Waylon’s family says that those events have changed his life forever.

“As far as we know, he can’t see right now,” his father says. He is not able to sit up. He’s having a hard time lifting his head. Physiotherapy will be very important for him.

This is what Waylon’s mother said in a statement:
