According to deputies, a heist at a South Bay grocery shop over the New Year’s holiday resulted in the theft of almost $1,000 worth of meat, and two persons were taken into custody.

Last week, deputies were summoned to the Safeway store on Homestead Road in Cupertino, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. About $1,200 worth of “ribeye & other prime beef cuts” were taken by the robbers.

A store employee, according to deputies, was able to describe the perpetrators and a getaway vehicle.

After locating the vehicle at its registered address, a deputy took both suspects into custody. Deputies posted pictures of the retrieved meats and other items.
