17-year-old among 3 people killed in Gilroy crash on Shore Road

According to a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman, a driver lost control of their car and collided with another vehicle in Gilroy on Tuesday night, killing three individuals.

According to CHP, just before 7 p.m., a motorist heading west on Shore Road west of Lake Road lost control of the vehicle, swerved into oncoming traffic, and collided with a car heading east on Shore Road.

The incident claimed the lives of the driver and two back passengers, one of whom was 17 years old.

According to CHP, the driver and only occupant of the other car, as well as the right front passenger, were taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital with suspected critical injuries.

Investigations are underway to determine the precise cause and circumstances of the crash.

According to CHP, it is currently unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
