Police said they arrested a youngster on December 5 on charges of first-degree murder and felony firearm use.

Virginia Beach, Virginia. Police said on Friday that they had made an arrest in connection with Monday’s shooting death of a 17-year-old on Kempsville Road.

The 17-year-old Virginia Beach child is the main suspect in the investigation, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD). He was arrested on Thursday and accused of committing a felony with a pistol and first-degree murder.

This is the sixth child-related homicide in the city this year, according to the VBPD. According to their estimates, a third of homicides would involve a juvenile victim and 50% will involve a juvenile perpetrator by 2024.

A shooting near the Tallwood Apartments on Schoolhouse Road was reported to the police on Monday night. Neighbors told 13News Now that they saw the body lying in the center of Kempsville Road, a few steps from Tallwood Elementary, after hearing five or six gunshots.

According to John Newsome, a neighbor who tried to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the man before emergency personnel arrived, it happened in the center of the road, directly near the median. The thought of someone’s life being taken, and for what reason, is plain absurd.

The Chesapeake victim passed away many hours after being brought to the hospital.

According to VBPD Chief Paul Neudigate, one is excessive, and these figures ought to worry the whole community. I’m asking parents and guardians once more to keep an eye on their teen’s behavior, social interactions, use of social media, and any other warning signs. Talk candidly with them about the repercussions and obligations of their actions.
