Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is regarded as one of the league’s best coaches. As he should be, he has the 2nd most wins among active head coaches only behind Bill Belichick. While it is obvious he is great today, many people fail to realize that Big Red is actually one of the best coaches in NFL history. In his 23 years as a head coach, Reid has a 0.633 win percentage with the 5th most wins among all time coaches. Not to mention, thus far he has averaged a significant more amount of wins per season than those ahead of him. Below is a list of the coaches with more wins than Reid and how many wins per season they averaged throughout their career.

Meanwhile, Andy Reid has averaged 10.13 wins per season. All of those ahead of him are Hall of Famers except one future Hall of Famer in Belichick. Not to mention, Reid has coached significantly less games than the others above him. If Reid continues to average this, he can pass Don Shula for the most career wins in 10 seasons of coaching.

In his career, Reid has won a Super Bowl title and was named the NFL Coach of the Year in 2002. During his 14 years as the head coach of the Eagles, Reid became the winningest head coach in the teams franchise history. Throughout his time there, the Eagles were 6 time NFC East champs, 3 time Conference champs, and earned a Super Bowl appearance. Reid then went on to Coach for the Chiefs, which is where his success kept rolling. In his 9 years with Kansas City, Andy Reid has led the Chiefs to 8 playoff appearances. During his time thus far, Reid has achieved an astounding .710 winning percentage- The best in a coach’s first 9 years with the team in franchise history. During the 9 years so far under Reid, the Chiefs have won 6 straight AFC West titles and are looking to push it to 7 this next year. Not only has Reid led the Chiefs to 4 consecutive AFC Championship games, but we have hosted all 4, breaking an NFL record(also looking to push this to 5 this next year). Andy Reid also led the Chiefs to 2 back to back Super Bowl appearances with one Championship win. Reid is only 21 wins away from passing Hank Stram as the winningest coach in Chiefs history and has coached 65 less games thus far than Stram did throughout his career.

Overall, Andy Reid has been slept on as an all time NFL Coach. It can be argued he has secured his spot as a top 5 head coach of all time and it sure looks like he is shaping up to be the best coach in Chiefs history. Not to mention, Reid may very well end his career as the winningest coach in NFL history and can very well become the greatest coach of all time. With this year up next, Reid looks to add to his resume and Chiefs fans are looking to win another Super Bowl Championship.
