As the fantasy football season is just around the corner, Chiefs fans will want to know the dark horse players on this team we here at Chiefs Focus think you should take a shot. First of all I will mention that for his article I will be basing my predictions in the ppr format in 12 man leagues. Although everything I say will also apply to other league formats.
The first player and probably my favorite pick right now is JuJu. This could arguably be the steal of the draft as long as he stays healthy. The reasoning behind this is that he hasn’t been in the position to succeed after he posted 1,400 yards as a rookie. Big Ben was a big reason behind this as he often couldn’t get him the ball downfield.
Now with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback this opens up his game and allows him to run routes like he was used to running. Another reason would be that he only projects to have around 800 yards this season on fantasy, and many close to the Chiefs have been able to see he may get much more than that.
He ranks as the 46th wide receiver which would be a steal at his current price because we have seen Mahomes make an early connection with him along with some big plays at training camp.
My second favorite player on this list is our guy Travis Kelce. With such a small amount of good tight ends, you almost have to have one of the top guys to make your fantasy playoffs. Last year I was big on Mark Andrews and he ended up finishing as the TE1 and winning me some money so take what I say seriously when I tell you it’s Travis Kelce’s year.
Not only will he have more targets coming his way which is great for PPR players, he also will have a much lower draft position than in years past. This should be a great opportunity for Chiefs fans to snag him in the second round and secure your tight end position.
The third player I will talk about is none other than Patrick Mahomes. On average Mahomes is picked in the third round of fantasy drafts and this is a big no no in the fantasy football world. Although there is no denying he is the best quarterback, you can get guys like Russel Wilson and Matt Stafford in much later rounds.
Pair this with the fact that we expect the running backs to get more touches this year after seeing a lot of two high safety looks last year and you get a guy who is not worth his draft position. We still love the guy though and hope he poves us wrong and throws for 50 touchdowns again.
The last player I will mention in this article is Skyy Moore. Throughout training camp we have seen Skyy make some of the most impressive catches of camp. This is why you will see him being drafted with guys such as MVS who I think has a clear path to more targets this season.
Much like Patrick though this is just too high for a rookie receiver who will have to fight for targets with Travis Kelce, JuJu, and MVS. We here at Chiefs focus love Skyy Moore and think he will end up being one of our star players, but in terms of fantasy you should go with guys such as Treylon Burks who is the clear Wr1 in his offense.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading my take on who I believe will be the best Chiefs players to draft this year and if you enjoyed reading please give this article a like so we know to keep on going with a little bit of fantasy content throughout the season.
