With the NFL season just around the corner it is a perfect time to project the winner of each award. With current Chiefs in the running for almost every single category it is important to know what story lines to be watching for this season.

The first award to consider is CPOTY or comeback player of the year. In my opinion Saquon Barkley will win the award this season. My reasoning behind this is that he is coming into an offense that has a new coach who is a proven winner. Another year off of his torn ACL should mean he gets more carries and opportunities this season.

My coach of the year prediction is going to be an easy one for me. Andy Reid should be the favorite here to lead the Chiefs past this difficult schedule and back to the playoff with a new and improved roster. It would really depend on how well the offense performs through the duration of the regular season but with how well we have seen the offense click during training camp it will come to no surprise to Chiefs fans to see them have great success.

Offensive player of the year will go to one of my favorite non Chiefs players. Christian McCaffery is a generational talent that is changing the game for running backs. His ability to catch the ball for a running back is second to none and would most certainly win this award if he produces at the same level as he once did pre injury.

MVP is my last and most debatable award. I firmly believe that Mahomes should be the favorite for this award however with how Josh Allen has progressed I wouldn’t rule him out either. My dark-horse to win the award is Tom Brady even at age 45. His offense is just as if not more explosive than he has had in the past and will always be up there in passing yards due to the air raid offense that is

run in Tampa Bay.

My last award will be Defensive Player of the Year. I think this award will go to Myles Garrett this year because he will need to step up to keep the Browns in playoff contention. With Watson out for the first 11 weeks he will have extra motivation to have an excellent season. Along with that he plays in an AFC North that is especially weak in linemen.

With all that being said it is important to keep up with these story-lines during the season so you can stay up to date with how these awards will play out. Regardless of whether these predictions come true we hope to see as many Chiefs winning these awards as possible.

With Mahomes winning OPOTY and MVP in the same season and Andy being a former COTY winner it is safe to say that they have a good chance to win more.
