The Chiefs need to prepare for a defensive game as both teams have played well on the defensive side of the ball through the first three weeks.

Since Andy Reid has been the head coach of Kansas City he has a record of 15-3, that’s an 83% win rate. That success rate has continued into the Patrick Mahomes era. The Chiefs are 7-1 which is a 88% win rate with Mahomes. He is 6-1 on Monday night football. His only loss was against the LA Rams, a game considered to be the best Monday night football game in NFL history.
Last year during the two meetings between these two teams the Chiefs put up a total of 89 points. This was largely due to horrific secondary play, by the Raiders. The offseason for the Raiders did not see much improvement in the secondary. During the offseason, Pro Football Focus had the Raiders ranked as one of the worst secondary’s in the league.
Up to this point of the season, they are sticking to one of the worst defenses in the league. ESPN has the Raiders giving up 7.5 yards per attempt in the passing game. They are tied with teams like the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders. One of the contributing factors is the lack of a pass rush the Raiders are giving. They have the least amount of sacks in the AFC with only five.
The Raiders don’t have much of an excuse to make about facing the top offenses in the league. Besides the LA Chargers in week one they have faced the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, and Denver Broncos. None of those teams have developed into top offenses.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs are one of the best offenses in the league. NFL stats has the Chiefs have dropped 40-plus points in multiple games and are tied for fifth in the league with the most 20-plus yard plays in the NFL. The Chiefs are tied for the most touchdowns in the NFL with 11.
The Chiefs will have their hands full with the Raiders’ two top receivers in Darren Waller and DeVante Adams. Kansas City has struggled this year against some of the best receivers in football. In week two against the Chargers, they allowed Mike Williams to get six receptions for 108 yards and they allowed Mike Evans to get 103 yards on eight receptions.
DeVante Adams has the second most receptions in the NFL. This trend should continue against the Chiefs. Adams is one of the best receivers in football and a great route runner. This could lead to Adams following Evans and Williams’ lead to break the 100 yards mark.
The Chiefs are a pretty healthy team. The only player not to practice, due to an injury, is kicker Harrison Butker. His replacement, Matthew Wright played well last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He went five for five in PATs and was successful in both field goal attempts including a 44-yard field goal.
The Raiders don’t have any top players on the injury report, meaning the Chiefs will get the best of the Raiders on Monday night football.
