FA Boo Boo Smith – Future NFL Star
By: Justin Miles (@justm1les)

This past week, JP and I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with free agent Boo Boo Smith. If you haven’t already, make sure to go check out the show now!
Boo Boo is entering the league as a wide receiver who doubles as a return specialist.
Smith is a Kansas City local who was a star athlete for Raytown high school. During his time in Raytown, Boo earned All-American track honors and All-State football honors. Smith then went on to play for a couple of local small colleges before walking on at Missouri University. Boo’s talents eventually led to him earning a scholarship and playing time while at Mizzou.
During his senior year, Smith racked up 10 total touches for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns. He paired that with 11 returns for 55 yards.
Despite going undrafted into the NFL, Smith earned an opportunity to sign with the Chiefs and was given a tryout during this year’s mini camp. Smith is now a free agent and is looking for his next team. While a reunion with Kansas City is possible, Smith is keeping his options open and exploring opportunities with different teams.

We believe Boo has the potential to become a great NFL player and will be a great fit for any team that signs him.
Despite entering the league as a receiver and return specialist, Smith also has experience playing several other positions including running back, corner, and safety. Mix his multi-position background with being an All-American track star and a boxer, Boo is one of the most athletic players in the league today. His 40 yard dash time is one of the best in the league with an astounding 4.3 second time.
While being a fantastic wide receiver, Smith also finds a passion for special teams. He stated on the show, “Special teams play one of the biggest roles for a football team”. His athletic background makes his an extremely versatile and unique skill set that could be lethal with a coach who utilizes him. “What sets me apart is I can run the ball, catch the ball, and also return.. I can come out of the backfield, line up in the slot, outside, and I can be a gunner.”
Smith’s well rounded skills have an emphasis on excellent footwork and decision making. These attributes along with his unmatchable speed are three key factors for an unstoppable weapon in today’s league.
Smith also has a very mature, team-first mindset that will undoubtedly help him succeed at the next level. He stated,“I’m a team player. I have no problem running a go route just to open up an out.. I just want to win.” He also mentioned that he spends a lot of time studying film and just the game in general, constantly looking for ways to improve himself as a player.

While any offense would benefit from having a player like Smith, the opportunities would be endless in Kansas City’s offense. Smith had nothing but praise for Kansas City and loved his time with the team. “They (Kansas City) were a good cultured team that was strict and down to the wire.. But they also just had a lot of fun.” Boo also had high praise for the coaching staff and had special praise for Chiefs Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub.
Smith is a player that has fought several battles just to get to where he is today. He has a veteran mindset and one of the most unique skill sets in the league. He would be unstoppable with Andy Reid calling the shots and Patrick Mahomes throwing to him.
All Chief fans should be begging for the organization to bring him back. Especially before he is inevitably picked up by another team. Any team will greatly benefit from adding this fantastic player and better man to their roster. Smith undoubtedly has a great career filled with many achievements ahead of him.
We wish Boo Boo the best of luck regardless of where he goes and as always, GO CHIEFS!
