Teams around the NFL are starting their training camps this past week. The Kansas City Chiefs are one of them as they look to defend their world title.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is at the center of all of that. He dominated in 2022 winning both NFL MVP and Super Bowl 57 MVP, but there’s no reason to believe he won’t do it again in 2023.

Monday morning gave us our first glimpse of Chiefs football when we got a view of Mahomes connecting with one of the new targets in rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice.

We all know we haven’t seen these guys in full contact but this should bring a lot of smiles to all of Chiefs Kingdom. Rashee Rice looks like he’s taken advantage of the OTAs and mini camp workouts and he looking more like a WR1 and will work and try to help his new team defend their title this season.

Rashee Rice was well covered on this drill by one of the best young cornerbacks in Trent McDuffie but if you watched in slow motion, Rice was able to outmuscle McDuffie way better than Ja’Marr Chase ever can. That says a lot about a player of Rice’s skill set.

Despite losing JuJu Smith-Schuster this offseason and Kadarius Toney’s current but minor setback, the Chiefs don’t have a glaring need at receiver with Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore in the fold. But Rice’s upside can’t ever be overlooked and remember what Steve Smith, Sr said.
