3 Killed, 8 Wounded in Post-Football Game Shooting in Mississippi

Three people were killed in the attack. Two were 19 years old and the third was 25.

At least two shooters opened fire into a crowd of several hundred people enjoying a school’s homecoming football win at an outdoor event in central Mississippi just after midnight on Friday. Three people were killed and eight were hurt.

It happened at a home in Holmes County, about five miles outside of Lexington, around 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 19. This is what Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said.

March told me over the phone, “To tell you the truth, it was chaos.” “The shooting began right away, and people ran.”

According to the sheriff, the shooting started after a fight between some of the guys at the party. The fight happened after a football game at the Holmes County Consolidated School’s homecoming event several hours before.

A lot of young people went to the property to party after the game. There were between 200 and 300 people there when the shots went off.

March said it wasn’t clear what started the fight. He also said that shootings involving young guys have been a problem in the county, which has about 16,000 people. The sheriff said that some of the previous shootings were caused by arguments between people.

“It’s not clear why they are fighting.” March said, “I don’t think they are fighting over drugs or land.” “These young men are carrying guns around.” I wish I knew the answer.

Three people were killed in the attack. Two were 19 years old and the third was 25. The hurt people were flown to nearby hospitals to get medical care.

16 WAPT news, a news station based in Jackson, said that a field on the land where the shooting happened had been rented out for the party for several hours.

Joe Johnson, co-owner of the property, told the outlet that there is security at all of their events and that they sometimes find people with guns and take them away. But this time, some people were able to get guns in.

Johnson also said that one of the people hurt in the shooting was his nephew.

“Thank God my sons weren’t shot; my nephew is in the hospital right now,” he said.

The sheriff said that so far, no suspects have been found. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is helping with the investigation into the killing, which is still going on.
