Police described the Tuesday discovery of four family members—two adults and two children—dead inside a Milpitas condominium as “isolated.”

According to the police, officers were sent to the Turing Apartments at 1355 McCandless Drive shortly before 9 p.m. to do a welfare check. A lady, a man, and two preteen children were discovered in the residence by officers “with obvious signs of death.”

At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Millbrae Police Lt. Tyler Jamison stated that the family’s welfare check was carried out after other family members mentioned they hadn’t spoken to their loved ones in a number of days.

“We don’t know specifically the names of the individuals or their relationships but detectives are still trying to piece that information together,” Jamison added.

According to Jamison, all four were declared deceased at the spot. He stated that the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office would disclose the cause of death and the identities, but he did not go into detail about the bodies’ state.

“Based on all available information, it appeared to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public,” a police press release earlier Wednesday said.

Jamison stated that the department would support the officers who responded to the incident and conveyed its sympathies to the families of the deceased.

We expressed our sincere condolences to the family, since it’s a really trying time for everyone, I mean especially them. We just want to make sure that officers have the resources they need to overcome the difficulties they have because they are exposed to these awful occurrences on a regular basis,” Jamison said.

According to Jamison, the address has no history of police contacts.

The news was surprising, Jerry Saldana, who lives above the crime site, told CBS News Bay Area.

“It’s frightening. We have a family, you know,” Saldana remarked. “We got children ourselves, and to think that, you know, we’re just right above, you know, the unit that it happened in, and not knowing any information.”

According to Savannah Ray Dizon, who works for a company beneath the property, she was taken aback when she learned about the probe.

She informed us that during her shift, she had neither heard or seen anything unusual.

It’s astonishing to learn that there is a family there because the area is quite peaceful. “Kids are too involved, but I know anyone dying is serious,” Dizon remarked.

Police stated that the investigation was still in progress and that it was acceptable for the department to provide relevant information as it developed.
