In the second quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Christian McCaffrey, the running back for the San Francisco 49ers, hobbled to the locker room due to a knee injury.
On a snow-covered field, McCaffrey took an unsteady step on a sweep to the left. Almost instantly, the All-Pro was taken down for a 5-yard loss. The 49ers classified McCaffrey’s return as questionable after he was evaluated in the medical tent on the sidelines.
After missing the Niners’ first eight games due to Achilles tendonitis, McCaffrey, the 2023 offensive player of the year, made his fourth appearance of the season. Before getting hurt, he had seven carries for 53 yards and two catches for 14 yards, including his longest run of the season, which was 19 yards in the first quarter.
Due to cramping, Niners linebacker Fred Warner left the game for a short while but came back.
