8 displaced in San Francisco Tenderloin apartment fire Sunday night

According to the agency, eight people were displaced when firefighters in San Francisco put out a fire at a top-floor apartment in the Tenderloin on Sunday night.

One apartment of a multi-story complex was the site of the one-alarm fire at 201 Leavenworth Street at Turk Street. The Fire Department said that no one was inside the unit.

Late on Sunday evening, the department shared footage from the fire scene, stating that

201 Leavenworth St. at Turk St. has a one alarm fire. One unit is burning. Water is burning, and the unit’s initial search yielded no results. While firefighters clean up and look for hidden pockets of fire, SFFD will stay on the scene for thirty minutes. San Francisco Fire stated in the post that firefighters will stay on the scene to clean up and make sure there were no concealed fire pockets that might rekindle.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
