During the occasion, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus sang the national anthem and a new sign was unveiled outside the building.
Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, and Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie were among the many speakers who paid tribute to Pelosi.
San Francisco has been represented in Congress for 37 years by Pelosi, the first female speaker of the House and the current congressman representing California’s 11th district.
Pelosi, the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Transportation all have offices in the facility, which was opened in 2007.
