On Monday, a violent criminal who was being held for murder broke out of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).

While being driven to the courthouse on 10th Avenue and Kensington Street, 34-year-old Caesar Hernandez sprang from the van.

He was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison with the chance of parole for first-degree murder, a second-strike offense, according to a CDCR statement.

The Delano Police Department and other law enforcement agencies are helping in the search for Hernandez, according to CDCR.

He is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs about 161 pounds, has brown eyes and black hair, and was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit with white thermals, according to the correctional department.

Since Hernandez is deemed dangerous, authorities are asking anybody with information on him to get in touch with local law enforcement right away, dial 9-1-1, or get in touch with Incident Commander Lt. Anthony Sotello at (661) 721-6300 extension 5506.
