Texas’s Houston Following allegations by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office that she had abused her 4-year-old goddaughter, leaving the child in critical condition, a woman was freed on bond. Tameria Barnett, 30, is currently being charged with first-degree child harm.

A medical call about an injured child prompted police to arrive on Tuesday. After it was found that four-year-old Londlyn Anthony had been abused, she was sent to Texas Children’s Hospital in poor health. The girl had reportedly been beaten daily for months, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, who later disclosed this information on X.

After an investigation by the sheriff’s office, it was discovered that Barnett had been looking after the child since September. Barnett is a close friend of Londlyn’s birth mother and godmother, according to official confirmation. The mother of the child is presently behind bars.

Barnett was taken to the Harris County Jail on November 29 after an arrest warrant was acquired.

Prosecutors disclosed graphic allegations of Londlyn’s abuse on Monday, alleging that Barnett struck her, causing bruises, soft tissue swelling, and other injuries.

“I’m hoping for a miracle so she can return home before Christmas,” said Kerrick Anthony, Londlyn’s father. Actually, my daughter is the sole reason I’m here. Fairness for my daughter. Fairness for Londlyn.

According to court documents detailing the assault, Barnett used a belt, a cable, her hands, and an unidentified instrument to seriously hurt the youngster for months.

My daughter’s brainwaves are monitored by screws in her head. Life support is still in place for her. She is unable to breathe by herself. Anthony clarified that she has bruises on her ribs.

Anthony disclosed that while he was moving, he left Londlyn in Barnett’s care. He went on to say that Barnett was the godmother his family had picked and that he trusted her.

I feel accountable because I feel like I let my child down. Anthony said, “I feel responsible, but I am not responsible.”

Violence is part of Barnett’s criminal history. She was accused of assault in 2018 after using her fist to hit a woman.

None of the evidence is with us. The police report is not yet available to us. “She is presumed innocent at this time because we do not have the discovery,” said Sylvia Escobedo, Barnett’s court-appointed defense attorney.

Londlyn is still recuperating at Texas Children’s Hospital. After posting a $100,000 bond, Barnett was freed. A judge imposed restrictions on her release, such as wearing a GPS tracker and avoiding contact with children younger than 17. In February 2025, she is scheduled to appear in court again.
