Woman allegedly punched 6-week-old baby and left her in an ice-cold car while she worked her job at McDonald’s.

After allegedly leaving her six-week-old child in her car while working a shift at McDonald’s, a woman from North Carolina was taken into custody.

On December 2, police issued two arrest warrants for 21-year-old Nikita Jones on one count of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of felony intentional child abuse resulting in serious bodily harm.

The arrest warrants claim that Jones not only left her newborn unattended in her car, where the temperature was reportedly below 40 degrees, but also allegedly struck the youngster in the face, resulting in visible bruising around her eyes, according to WRAL, a local NBC affiliate.

On November 21, Jones reportedly left her baby in the car and turned it off as she started her shift at the Raleigh McDonald’s. The warrants said that Jones had beaten her baby the previous day, November 20, and that the girl’s face was scratched, bruised, and swollen.

It is unknown how long the infant was in the car before being found, and there were no details provided on her current condition.

According to court records obtained by local CBS station WNCN, Jones was arrested and placed on a $5,000 secured bond for the misdemeanor and a $50,000 secured bond for the felony.

She will be arraigned on the felony charge on December 10th, her next court date. On December 19, she will appear in court again for the misdemeanor.
