Hamlet During Seaboard City’s fourth annual Parade of Lights on Thursday night, five entries caught the judges’ attention.
Richmond County Hospice won the community category award, making it one of the top floats once more.
Richmond County Hospice was the top float for three consecutive years before the awards were split into categories.
The entry, designed by Nic Wilkes, had an old-fashioned theme from the late 1800s, with snow fairies at the forefront, a reindeer-drawn sleigh, and a large number of costumed people following. About 20 employees and volunteers participated.
The Cooke Boys Septic Services won the firm category by keeping their 2023 National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation idea. They received Director’s Choice last year.
This year’s Directors’ Choice winners were Salon on Broad and DHI Builders.
The Treasure Shop was selected as the brightest, the Fighting Scots from Scotland High School were picked the best band, and Joy Free Will Baptist Church, which placed second the year before, won the church category.
According to Mechelle Preslar, Director of Community Engagement, there were 100 entries in this year’s parade.
