The gun that killed her father was accidentally set off by Trump’s surgeon general pick

Sharing is caring!

At the age of 13, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, the surgeon general nominee of President-elect Donald Trump, unintentionally knocked over a gun, which fired and murdered her father in the head.

A New York Times investigation on Friday exposed the full scope of the 1990 incident, which Nesheiwat had only partially divulged.

She did not specifically identify her role in the sad occurrence, but the publication said it inspired her to seek a career in medicine.

According to her new memoir, I watched helplessly as my beloved father died in an accident at the age of 13, with blood gushing everywhere. I was unable to keep him alive. This was the first step on my own path to becoming a doctor.

In the 260 pages that follow, Nesheiwat does not describe how her father, a 44-year-old chemist, passed away, according to The Times.

In February 1990, a teenage Nesheiwat was searching for scissors stored in a tacklebox on a shelf above her father’s bed in their Florida home early one morning, according to police documents the Times was able to get.

He was shot in the head while he was sleeping by a.380 caliber revolver that exploded when she knocked the container over. The next day, he passed away at a hospital in Orlando.

She informed the authorities that there was a loud boom and that something had fallen out of it. My father’s ear was covered in blood. It was called a freak accident by the police. She went to get ice and a cloth for her father’s head and then contacted the police.

Two major factors that influenced Nesheiwat’s decision to become a doctor were the passing of her father and her mother’s work as a pediatric nurse.

The Times left messages, but she did not reply. The Daily Beast’s request for comment was not immediately answered by Trump’s transition staff.

The Trump transition team told the newspaper that she became a doctor after her father died tragically by accident, as she states in her book.

Because of her dedication to the lives of her fellow Americans, President Trump nominated Dr. Nesheiwat as our next Surgeon General. She became a doctor in order to save lives. She hopes her father is proud of them, and she and her family mourn him.

Trump endorsed Nesheiwat for the role because of her actual medical experience, which included work in urgent care centers in New Jersey and New York. The president-elect’s former homeland security adviser is her older sister, Julia.

Trump has named House Representative Michael Waltz (R-FL), Julia’s husband, as his national security adviser.

The lead vocalist of the hard rock band Creed, Scott Stapp, married her younger sister, Jaclyn, who was once a fashion model.

Nesheiwat has previously contributed to Fox News, as have a number of Trump’s prospective nominees and appointees.

The US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps will be led by Dr. Nesheiwat, who will be instrumental in MAKING AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN!, Trump stated in a statement announcing her appointment.

The current surgeon general, Dr. Vivek Murthy, deemed gun violence a public health emergency earlier this year.

If Nesheiwat is confirmed, it is unclear if she would run on the same platform.
