Customers like Aminata Villa searched for the ideal outerwear for themselves and their kids at the Life Learning Center in Covington, where coat racks lined the room.
She informed me that it’s crucial for the community because some people don’t have enough money. Since it’s too chilly outside, something like this can help us save money and safeguard our health.
In order to keep the room stocked with enough jackets of various sizes, St. Vincent de Paul of Northern Kentucky has been working with St. Vincent de Paul Cincinnati and Arlinghaus Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning since October to gather new and lightly used coats. Donations will be accepted till January 2025.
Karen Zengel, executive director of St. Vincent de Paul of Northern Kentucky, stated, “Their sponsorship has enabled us to purchase these larger-size coats that are in high demand because people like to layer up when they are out in the elements.” They can do it and keep extra toasty since they have those larger-size coats.
Zengel added that a lot of this would not have been feasible without the help of volunteers who put in countless hours to make sure each visitor had a coat they adored.
Rosa Hollis-Bird, a volunteer, said, “These are brothers and sisters in need.” Saint Vincent Paul is focused about helping our family stay secure by providing them with whatever we can.
For families like the Villas, it made all the difference.
“I’m really thrilled,” she said. I’m glad when I obtain what I like.
Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Florence and John G. Carlisle Elementary School in Covington will host two more activities on Saturday, December 14 from 9 a.m. to noon.
