Two guys have been arrested following a string of armed robberies across the Pee Dee

A series of armed robberies that took place in the Pee Dee over the weekend have led to the arrest of two men.

According to information obtained by ABC15, the individuals and others are connected to robberies that took place in Darlington, Dillon, and Hartsville.

According to Bennettsville Police Chief Kevin Miller, the two were apprehended on Sunday night in the vicinity of the city’s Fire Stone neighborhood.

Marlboro County 911 dispatchers received information about the robbery suspects from Darlington County 911 dispatchers, according to a Bennettsville police report.

The officer’s report includes the following:

Numerous armed robbery suspects were in route to Marlboro County via Highway 15/401, according to a call from the Darlington County 911 center. We were told via dispatch that they will provide more details as soon as they had them from Darlington County.

I managed to get in touch with a Hartsville police officer who was assisting with the event and asked for important details. The police told me that there were many armed people inside the car and gave me a picture of it. The individuals seem to have been targeting hotels in the adjacent counties, so I told city police to ride and check on hotels in the area.

In the incident report, the officer adds:

I saw a blue Honda hatchback-like car that fit the description of the car the robbery suspects were driving as I got closer to the intersection of Hwy 15/401 and Cottingham Blvd. I hurried by this car and informed Dispatch that I was watching the blue Honda as it went back into the city boundaries.

I turned around and continued to follow the car until we came to the outside of the city, when I turned on my blue lights. I turned on my blue lights and tried to halt the car as it continued along Highway 15/401 until the driver turned right onto State Street. as it became apparent that the car would not stop.

The car drove down State Street and then turned onto Patten Street after I told central dispatch that I was trying to stop them. I got behind the car as they rounded the bend on Patten Street and leaped out, leaving the car in gear, which caused it to slide and halt against a shrub. I reported to dispatch that many persons leaped from the car and fled in different directions.

A tracking team from the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office was called in to help find the culprits, according to the incident report.

Two of the men were captured and taken into custody shortly after. The number of those that escaped is unknown. The remaining suspects are still being sought.
