Following the discovery of two missing minors under the age of sixteen in his residence earlier this year, Pleasant Hill police reported on Tuesday that a man has been charged with several sexual offenses.
Officers began looking into a missing young person on October 21. An apartment complex on the 600 block of Old Quarry Road was the result of the study.
Officers found the culprit, Alejandro Gabriel Sainz, 27, of Pleasant Hill, as well as two missing youngsters at the scene.
Sainz was taken into custody after police interviewed the minors. He was arrested and is currently being held at the Contra Costa County Jail.
Several electronic devices were taken from Sainz’s residence by the authorities. Following more investigation, Sainz was charged with 20 felonies by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office, including unlawful sexual contact, possession of child sexual abuse materials, and indecent actions with a juvenile.
Sainz met the victims online, according to investigators.
“The Pleasant Hill Police Department is committed to protecting our children and making Pleasant Hill a safe place for all,” officials said on Tuesday.
“Returned to appropriate care,” cops said of the children.
Sainz is being jailed on $1.4 million bond, according to jail records. His next court date is set for February 3, 2025.
Pleasant Hill police are asking anyone with more information about the crime to contact them at 925-288-4600.
