An Indianapolis man was found guilty by a jury of shooting and killing a 19-year-old in September 2022 outside a convenience store on the west side of the city.

Jurors found 22-year-old Julius Beverly guilty of two counts of murder and one count of robbery resulting in serious bodily damage after a two-day trial.

On September 4, 2022, at approximately 6 p.m., IMPD officers were called to a person shot at the 4200 block of North High School Road, close to West 46th Street.

When police arrived, they discovered Da Kylen White, 19, inside a car. On the spot, medical personnel declared White dead.

According to security footage, Beverly got out of White’s car’s passenger side, went back inside, and shot White several times, hitting him in the head.

Security footage also showed Beverly snatching something close to White’s waist and running away with a passenger in the rear.

Police noticed that White’s handgun holster was empty when they got to the scene.

With the assistance of other people who said that Beverly and White were friends and treated each other as family, Beverly was quickly identified as the culprit.

According to Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears’ statement, the inquiry ultimately turned up another instance of the terrible results that can arise when young people reach for their guns on impulse to settle a straightforward argument. Nothing was worth Mr. White’s death for. His passing would be felt for years because he was a young father who was expecting.

The date of Beverly’s sentence is January 6.
