A tragic incident in Houston, Texas, has led to the death of a 1-year-old child who was left in the care of a woman, later identified as Heather, while the child’s mother was away.

According to the authorities, Heather was supposed to be responsible for the child but left him with her 13-year-old daughter when she went to work.

Sadly, during this time, the young child was mauled to death by the woman’s dogs.

Police have reported that Heather, 36, has been arrested and charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury by omission.

The unfortunate event unfolded when Heather’s daughter tried to protect the toddler from the dogs, but her efforts were not enough to prevent the attack.

The dogs broke into the bedroom where the toddler was, leading to a vicious and prolonged attack.

The authorities stated that the incident took place on Monday at Heather’s residence.

Heather left her 13-year-old daughter in charge of the toddler, assuming the situation would be under control. Shortly after Heather departed, the dogs attacked the child.

Despite the young girl’s attempts to save the boy, she was forced to seek shelter in a bathroom. Tragically, the dogs managed to break in again, continuing their assault on the child.

The 13-year-old eventually contacted emergency services, desperate for help. After moving the injured toddler to another room and using her body to hold the door shut, she managed to prevent further attacks until the first responders arrived.

The child was immediately rushed to the hospital, but he could not survive the severe injuries and passed away a few hours later.

The child’s mother, Erica, expressed her grief to the authorities, stating that she had trusted Heather to take care of her son.

Although she was aware that Heather had dogs in the house, Erica was unaware of their aggressive nature.

Heather had assured her that the pets would be kept secure during the boy’s stay.
