Authorities say a pothole that appeared on Interstate 680 in Fremont on Wednesday morning has forced the closure of northbound lanes while Caltrans workers perform urgent repairs.
Around 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, the Dublin CHP office posted on social media about the big pothole in the right lane of northbound I-680 north of Via San Gabriel in Fremont. At first, the right and center lanes as well as the adjacent on-ramp had to be closed in order to fix the pothole.
The left lanes were reopened shortly after, but the on-ramp, center lanes, and right lanes were still blocked. CHP stated later on Wednesday that the middle lane will need to be closed until 1 a.m. on Thursday in order to make the repairs.
