The FBI is appealing to the public for help in solving an armed robbery case involving an armored car in Brighton Park earlier this month. The agency is offering up to $1,000 for information that leads directly to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for this crime.

The incident occurred on December 3, around 7:30 a.m., at Huntington Bank, located at 4130 South Archer Avenue. A Brinks technician was servicing an ATM when an armed robber approached, pulled a gun on him, and made off with the technician’s firearm, as well as between $50,000 and $90,000 in cash. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, leaving behind only images from the bank’s surveillance cameras.

According to the FBI, the robber is described as a Black male, aged between 20 and 25, standing about 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 9 inches tall. He has a slim build and was wearing a black balaclava face covering, a shiny black puffer coat, black gloves, black pants, and black shoes at the time of the robbery.

Special Agent Kimberly M. Schneider, from the FBI’s Chicago Field Office, urged anyone with information to come forward. “We believe there are individuals who have information about this robbery,” Schneider said. “We encourage anyone who saw something suspicious in the area around the time of the robbery to contact the FBI.”

Tips can be shared with the FBI’s Chicago Field Office by calling 312-421-6700. The FBI is committed to protecting the identity of those who come forward with information, and all tips will be handled with the utmost discretion.
