A local interior designer is accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from clients in Allegheny County.
According to the most recent filing from the district attorney’s office, she allegedly took $45,000 from her client.
Allegheny County appears to have a number of victims.
It took a week to react instead of the same day or the following day. Two weeks. “Oh,” said Brandon Mahler, “it’s on backorder.”
Mahler discussed his first misgivings about the interior designer he and his wife selected in 2022 with Channel 11 via Zoom.
We were given a rug and two lamps, which we kept. Then nothing else. Then, according to Mahler, the weeks became months.
The proprietor of Black Cherry Designs, Lauren Piasecki, is the designer, investigators said.
Numerous victims are accusing her of paying her to beautify their homes, but she never fulfilled her promise and never paid them back.
Mahler says she still has more than $13,000 to pay him.
She allegedly stole $160,000 from another couple, according to the police.
According to police, she apologized via email to a client for not keeping her word and fulfilling her commitments.
This is not the norm, and I don’t think doing business this way is appropriate.
Police claim that the consumer has not yet received payment, nevertheless.
Police claim that she used a significant amount of this money for personal expenses like dining out and drinking, Uber rides, and Amazon shopping.
