The recent arrests of two suspects in connection with an armed robbery of an Alum Rock business last summer were verified by San Jose police on Tuesday. One of the suspects was found in possession of nearly a dozen firearms and rifles.

The San Jose Police Department’s press release states that the armed robbery took place at approximately 2:22 a.m. on July 12, 2024. After responding to the scene at the 2600 block of Alum Rock Avenue, patrol police discovered that five unidentified suspects had broken into a shop and were pointing guns at the victims inside.

The perpetrators fled the scene before the authorities arrived, taking from the victims about $6,000 worth of items, including cash.

After conducting a comprehensive investigation, San Jose police officers determined that two of the five suspects were Christopher Sanchez, 30, of San Jose, and Alex Maldonado, 28, of Stockton. Police secured search warrants for the homes connected to suspects Sanchez and Maldonado, as well as arrest warrants for both of them.

On November 13, 2024, Sanchez was arrested for armed robbery in San Jose and taken to the Santa Clara County Main Jail. Maldonado was arrested for armed robbery in Stockton last Wednesday and taken to the Santa Clara County Mail Jail.

Police discovered a number of firearms during the search of Maldonado’s Stockton home, including nine unregistered handguns and extended magazines, an unregistered AK-47 rifle, and a stolen lever action rifle.

The three unaccounted-for suspects are still being sought by police. It is recommended that anyone with information regarding the case or the whereabouts of those suspects get in touch with Detective Williams #4766 of the SJPD Robbery Unit at 408-277-4166 or by email at [email protected].
