A guy accused of firing at a Muni bus in the Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco was taken into custody by police early Monday morning.

Officers were called to the scene of gunfire at around 6 a.m. at the intersection of 4th and Berry Streets, close to Oracle Park and the Caltrain station. The driver of a Muni bus told police that a man had shot at him before he ran away on 4th Street.

An investigation revealed that the bullet entered the bus through the windshield and hit a passenger seat. Gunfire did not strike the driver.

In order to evaluate the victim, paramedics arrived on the site.

The bus had between 15 and 20 people on board at the time, but none of them stayed to talk to the police, according to the authorities.

Police found the suspect during the investigation and concluded that the gun had been thrown away. Later, with assistance from the department’s Marine Unit, police were able to retrieve the firearm.

Adolph Patrick Greene, a 58-year-old Oakland resident, was the suspect and was taken to San Francisco County Jail.

Police Chief Bill Scott issued a statement saying, “Violence against any city employee will not be tolerated,” “I’m thankful for the responding officers who acted quickly in apprehending the suspect and canvassing the area to locate evidence.”

Greene was charged with a number of offenses, including destroying or hiding evidence, possessing drug paraphernalia, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, being a felon in possession of a firearm, discharge of a firearm from an occupied motor vehicle, and carrying a concealed firearm.
