Mountain View police reported Monday that they had arrested a man suspected of causing a pedestrian’s death in a DUI hit-and-run accident that occurred Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Amphitheater Parkway and Joaquin Road near the Google campus and the Shoreline Amphitheatre at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Sunday morning, according to a press release released by the Mountain View Police Department on Monday afternoon.
Before paramedics from the Mountain View Fire Department could reach the site, arriving cops quickly rendered first treatment to a man pedestrian who was gravely hurt in the highway. After being taken to a nearby hospital, the pedestrian passed away from his wounds. The victim was not identified by the police.
A short distance from the scene of the crash, officers promptly found a suspect car that was leaving the area. Erick Barrios, a 42-year-old Campbell resident, was the driver who was taken into custody and charged with several offenses at the Santa Clara Main Jail. Barrios faces one crime of murder, one count of felony hit-and-run with injury, and one count of criminal driving under the influence. He had an outstanding warrant.
