Analysts now support the lab idea, according to a new evaluation released by the government this week.
Officials claim that new intelligence is not the basis for the agency’s change. Instead, it is predicated on the same data that it has been considering for months.
The research is based in part on a closer examination of the conditions in high-security labs in Wuhan province before the pandemic outbreak, according to sources familiar with the agency’s findings.
According to an agency spokesperson, the agency will continue to assess any credible new intelligence reports and the other theory remains viable.
The argument, according to some U.S. officials, is pointless because the Chinese government did not control its markets or monitor its laboratories. Some contend that it is a scientific and critical intelligence question.
The new CIA director, John Ratcliffe, has long been an advocate of the lab leak theory. According to him, it is an important piece of intelligence that needs to be comprehended and that it affects the relationship between the United States and China.
Shortly after Ratcliffe told Breitbart News that he no longer wanted the agency to remain on the sides of the controversy over the causes of the COVID pandemic, the change was made public. But that’s not what the CIA has said, at least not in public. I will therefore concentrate on that, examine the intelligence, and ensure that the public is aware that the agency will no longer be sitting on the sidelines.
The Biden administration’s top intelligence officers defend their processes and methods. They have claimed that politics had no influence on their findings and that no intelligence was concealed.
These officials assert that although both the natural causes theory and the lab leak theory have strong logical justifications, there is just no conclusive intelligence on either side of the dispute.

In a similar vein, the intelligence community is looking for proof that one of the Wuhan laboratories was developing a progenitor virus that directly caused the outbreak in order to seal the lab leak.
There was no evidence of either.
Ratcliffe has pledged to make the CIA more aggressive, though, and it’s possible that he would issue more orders to infiltrate Wuhan’s laboratories or the Chinese government in order to gather intelligence.
Stealing this secret won’t be easy. Senior officials in the Chinese government are not aware of the issue and are not interested in learning about it, according to U.S. sources. Therefore, if intelligence is present, it is probably concealed in a place that is challenging to reach.
Such proof may theoretically exist in a Chinese lab, according to intelligence officials interviewed in recent weeks. They do, however, think that scientific discoveries—rather than intelligence disclosures—will address the mystery surrounding the virus’s origins.
The intelligence community backed the idea that the virus started in the market under the Biden administration. Officials were quick to acknowledge that it was uncertain, though.
The National Intelligence Council and the Defense Intelligence Agency were among the five agencies that came to the conclusion that the outbreak was most likely caused by natural exposure. They did, however, admit that they were not confident in their evaluation.
The FBI and the Department of Energy had previously thought that a laboratory leak was more likely. They have different theories, though. According to the FBI, the Wuhan Institute of Virology is where the virus first appeared. The Wuhan Center for Disease Control, another lab, was the target of the Energy Department’s wager.
Whether the CIA thinks one lab was the virus’s more likely source was not disclosed by officials.
