A teenager is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the stomach on St. Ouen Street in Wakefield early Tuesday morning.

The police have shared that the suspect is believed to be a man in his 20s, who fled the scene wearing a black hoodie.

Authorities are now seeking any information that might help identify and locate the shooter.

Residents in Wakefield have expressed shock over the incident.

Jayda Grace, a local resident, described the neighborhood as typically quiet, stating, “It’s surprising to hear about a shooting happening here, especially so close to home.”

This incident marks the second shooting in the area in the past month.

Despite the recent violence, some local business owners, like Rahim Ebnou, who runs City Line Fruit & Vegetable, say they still feel safe. “The people around me are good, and I trust them.

We have our security measures in place,” he said, pointing out that the store’s security cameras are functional and that they have alerts for emergency services.

The Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence (B.R.A.G) organization is also involved in the community response.
