Galveston police responded to a serious collision along 29th Street and Harborside Drive on Monday, January 20, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m. A black BMW and a white Toyota Tacoma carrying five people collided head-on.

The BMW, driven by Texas City resident Alexis Brittany Cisneros, 34, was heading west when it veered into the eastbound lanes and struck the Tacoma, according to the preliminary inquiry.

One Tacoma passenger was declared deceased at the scene, according to Emergency Medical Services. For medical attention, the four surviving passengers were brought to the UTMB Galveston Emergency Room.

After being brought to the UTMB emergency room as well, Cisneros was eventually allowed to leave. He was subsequently charged with intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter and taken to Galveston County Jail. A $150,000 bond was set for him.

All lanes on Harborside Drive were blocked for many hours while police looked into the collision. Investigations into this occurrence are still ongoing.
