During a traffic check Thursday night, Lake County officers discovered cocaine, a loaded weapon, and evidence of impaired driving, leading to a 56-year-old Ohio man being charged with multiple felonies.
Frank Hunter Jr. of Maple Heights was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. on May 23 in the vicinity of North Ridge Road, according to authorities.
When deputies first pulled over Hunter’s car for an unidentified traffic infraction, they smelled burnt marijuana, which is prohibited by state law and indicates recent use while driving.
A loaded 9mm pistol and 22 grams of cocaine were found during a subsequent check of the car.
Hunter, who had previously been prohibited from legitimately owning firearms, was accused of carrying a concealed weapon, handling a handgun incorrectly in a motor vehicle, possessing controlled substances, and possessing weapons while disabled.
Until further legal proceedings, he is incarcerated in the Lake County Jail.
