San Jose police arrest Livermore man in child sexual assault case

According to authorities, a 53-year-old Alameda County male has been taken into custody in relation to the sexual assault of a child in San Jose.

According to a statement released on Wednesday, the suspect was taken into custody by San Jose police on January 23 after an investigation that started on New Year’s Eve.

The suspect and victim communicated via an online chat app and made plans to meet at a place in San Jose, according to detectives from the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children / Child Exploitation Detail. The guy went to an empty parking lot during the meeting and then sexually assaulted the child.

Police secured arrest and search warrants after identifying the suspect as Livermore resident Alfonso Ramirez. After being found by officers in San Jose, Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a juvenile and sent to the Santa Clara County Jail.

When he will appear in court on the charge was not disclosed by the officers.
