Fairfield, Franklin, Hamilton, Lake Counties will gain from multimillion-dollar for bridge rehabilitation funding

OhioUnder its Local Major Bridge Program, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced an investment of $8.7 million in four bridge modernization and repair projects.

This investment will enhance infrastructure, foster economic growth, and improve safety in Franklin, Fairfield, Hamilton, and Lake counties.

Governor DeWine Highlights the Importance of Infrastructure Investment

Governor Mike DeWine of Ohio underlined the need of funding regional bridges by saying:

By maintaining our transportation system, investing in our local bridges improves our economy and makes connections safer. The security and prosperity of our communities are directly impacted by every dollar invested on bridge infrastructure.

ODOT has invested $78 million in 24 projects since Governor DeWine broadened the definition of a local major bridge in 2022, greatly enhancing the state’s transportation system.

The Local Major Bridge Program and Its Impact

Federal money for the replacement, rehabilitation, demolition, and upkeep of important bridges are given to counties and municipalities under the Local Major Bridge Program. A bridge must be liftable or movable or have a deck area more than 15,000 square feet in order to qualify.

With a project ceiling of $20 million, ODOT will pay up to 80% of qualifying expenditures for all stages of the projects that are awarded.

Application Process and Future Funding Opportunities
