The Local Major Bridge Program and Its Impact
Federal money for the replacement, rehabilitation, demolition, and upkeep of important bridges are given to counties and municipalities under the Local Major Bridge Program. A bridge must be liftable or movable or have a deck area more than 15,000 square feet in order to qualify.
With a project ceiling of $20 million, ODOT will pay up to 80% of qualifying expenditures for all stages of the projects that are awarded.
Pamela Boratyn, director of ODOT, underlined the significance of this program by saying:
To make the most of their infrastructure investments and guarantee that their transportation assets remain dependable and secure for many years to come, local communities rely on ODOT funding programs.
Application Process and Future Funding Opportunities
Applications for the Local Major Bridge Program are being accepted by ODOT from September 1 through October 15. A multidisciplinary group with experience in funding, program management, safety, environmental factors, and bridge analysis carefully examines funding requests.
ODOT’s investments in bridge modernization and restoration promote economic growth, preserve vital transportation networks across the state, and guarantee long-term dependability and safety for Ohio’s communities.
