A man was taken into custody by Vallejo police on Monday night after he allegedly stole a cement mixer and led them on a chase.
After receiving allegations of a vehicle theft in progress, officers were dispatched to a business located in the 1800 block of Broadway Street. According to the police, the suspect damaged the company’s property by around $50,000, took the yellow cement truck, and crashed through a roll-up door.
Then, during a brief pursuit, the suspect drove recklessly, ran red lights, and collided with oncoming traffic. Because of worries about public safety, officers decided to call off the pursuit.
Near Alabama and El Dorado streets, police discovered that the cement mixer had collided with a utility pole. Police set up a perimeter and located the perpetrator at a nearby home after receiving community tips.
After a brief battle, officers were able to apprehend the man despite his refusal to cooperate. A review of the suspect’s records revealed that he had two arrest warrants for violating a restraining order and probation.
He was charged with several felonies and brought to the Solano County Jail. The name of the suspect was not disclosed by the police.
The company received the truck back.
