A Very Special Woman: Heartbroken Community Remembers Cherished Teacher!

A community is mourning the loss of Arlene O’Neill, a beloved teacher, mother, and friend, who was tragically killed in what police are calling a murder-suicide.

The incident occurred in Yonkers, where Arlene’s husband, Sean, is believed to have shot her before taking his own life. The news has left friends, family, and the entire community in shock and grief.

Jennifer Inglis, a close friend of Arlene, shared how deeply Arlene impacted her life, both as a friend and as a mother. “I was very blessed to have Arlene in my life in so many ways,” Jennifer said.

“She was a wonderful teacher and friend. Our sons are in the same class, and Arlene was always there to lend a helping hand.”

Another friend, Marie Milio, who grew up with Arlene, expressed her disbelief upon hearing the news. “It was such a shock, my mind wouldn’t even let me believe it at first,” she shared.

Milio described Arlene as someone always eager to help others and enrich the lives of those around her. “She loved to connect people, and she never hesitated to make your day better,” she added.

Arlene’s involvement in the community extended beyond the classroom. She was actively engaged in the local special education PTA and contributed to various community events.

In the wake of her tragic death, the community has come together to support her three children, who are now left without both parents.

A GoFundMe has been set up by Milio to provide financial support for the children during this difficult time.

“We want to make sure the boys have everything they need as they move forward with their lives,” Milio explained.

Green ribbons and bows have been tied outside homes across Yonkers in memory of Arlene, a gesture that reflects just how much she meant to those around her.

“The area is already lit up in green for her memory,” Jennifer added. “She will be missed so much.”
