A 2-year-old child was nearly kidnapped inside a Bronx apartment building’s laundry room on Tuesday evening, according to the NYPD.
The incident took place around 6:50 p.m. on East 180th Street.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Darlyn Thomas, allegedly followed the toddler and the child’s 23-year-old mother into the laundry room of the building.
Police say that Thomas grabbed the mother’s arm and demanded that she hand over the child.
Thankfully, the mother managed to escape with her child, and both were unharmed during the incident.
Authorities reported that Thomas fled the scene by getting into an elevator and exiting on the 12th floor of the same building.
