North Carolina sets a record on the first day of early voting

In North Carolina, early voting is now open, and on the first day of voting in person, more people than ever before showed up.

The State Board of Elections says that 353,166 people voted on Thursday.

For the first day of early voting, that beat the old mark, which was set in 2020. On the first day of early voting in that race, 348,559 people went to the polls.

The high turnout yesterday shows that voters are excited about the election, trust the voting process, and believe that even a hurricane won’t stop North Carolinians from voting. Karen Brinson Bell is the executive head of the State Board of Elections.

With absentee votes added in, 428,299 North Carolina voters have already cast their ballots as of Friday morning.
