A secretary in the Regional School District 8 has been arrested for allegedly misusing $40,000 of school district funds over five years.

Christine Vardanian, 56, from Marlborough, is accused of using the district’s Amazon account to make personal purchases for herself.

The investigation began on May 24 after a complaint was filed with the state police.

Authorities took swift action to look into the case. Vardanian, who worked as a secretary for the RHAM school district, was arrested after the investigation uncovered her alleged misuse of the district’s funds.

State police said that Vardanian was taken into custody on Wednesday.
