Police: Man arrested after passing for a police officer, handcuffing Fairfield student

A man is being looked into by the Hamilton Police Department after he reportedly pretended to be a police officer near a bus stop on Friday morning.

Fairfield City Schools say the event took place at the main entrance to the Tyler’s Creek apartment complex on Friday.

In ninth grade, a guy dressed as a police officer approached a student and tried to hold them up, according to school officials.

A representative for Fairfield Schools said that the Hamilton Police Department looked into the matter right away.

On Friday, WLWT talked to the boy and his mother. He said that he was just doing what he always did at the bus stop when the suspect pulled up, put his hands on him, and showed him a police card.

“He detained me, he was asking ‘where do you live’, ‘what’s your address’,” he said.

Someone from the neighborhood saw something was wrong as the school bus pulled up. His mother was waiting for him at school when the teen got in his car and drove off.

“We trust that our children will be safe on the bus, but it was clear that he wasn’t,” the teen’s mother said.

Bradley Pyles was named as the suspect by Hamilton Police. He has been charged with pretending to be a police officer and kidnapping.

“While this incident was very serious in nature, the police department has assured us this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community,” the school said in a statement.
