There was a drive-by shooting earlier this week that hurt a 5-year-old boy and eventually killed him.
Artagist Stanford III, who was 5, died on October 26. The Cincinnati Police Department says this.
Police said he was hurt in a drive-by shooting on Oct. 24 and was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Around 5 a.m., someone shot someone on Holland Drive near Vivian Place in Winton Hills.
Stanford’s mother, Terri Fahey, says she got a call from the boy’s father soon after she got to work that morning.
Fahey said, “He went upstairs, grabbed the baby, and looked down. He saw Arty lying on his bed in blood, bleeding out.” “He was gone.” “He was really dead.”
Chief Teresa Theetge of the Cincinnati Police Department said Thursday that they have no suspects and don’t know why the shooting happened.
Police say it was a drive-by shooting, but the family believes the gunman stood on Holland Drive, more than 50 yards away, and fired.
Fahey yelled, “They took my baby!” “They took my heart and my life, and now my life will never be the same.”
Radio traffic from the police showed that three to four shots were fired into the house.
In front of her townhouse, Fahey says she saw 11 bullet holes.
Stanford was sleeping next to his four-year-old brother when the bullet hit him in the neck. It went through the drywall, the insulation, and two totes full of clothes.
“I just hope that whoever did this feels like this,” the sad mother said. “I don’t know who you were looking for, but you killed an innocent 5-year-old that meant a lot to everyone.”
“So, I hope the person who did this is caught and can’t live with themselves.” Because my baby couldn’t fight for himself, I want them to suffer slowly. There was no way for him to fight.
Crime Stoppers can be reached at 513-352-3040 if you know anything about the shooting.
Cincinnati Public Schools says that Stanford went to Winton Hills Academy.
