Suspect Accused for Allegedly Setting Fires Inside Laurinburg Walmart

After reportedly igniting fires inside a Scotland County store, a man is in custody.

On Monday, the Laurinburg Fire Department responded to allegations of a structural fire at Walmart on 901 Highway 401 South.

34-year-old John Lewis is suspected of starting three fires inside the business. He was later found at his residence and detained without incident.

Lewis was charged with burning a business building while it was occupied.

All fires were extinguished, and no injuries were recorded. However, Walmart sustained damage.

The store will remain closed till further notice.
