A handgun was discovered in a child’s diaper bag at an Eastern North Carolina preschool.

River Bend Police said the rifle was discovered in a toddler’s bag at Excel Learning Center on Monday morning.

No one was injured after a member of the center’s staff discovered the weapon.

Investigators are cooperating with the Department of Social Services and the District Attorney’s Office.
