One person gets shot dead in the Biscoe Walmart parking lot

A gunshot occurred in the Biscoe Walmart parking lot, killing one person.

The shooting occurred soon before 5 p.m. on Saturday. When first responders got on the scene, they discovered Victor Murray, 43, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, had been shot several times. Murray died of his injuries at the site.

Witnesses said they heard five to seven bullets and spotted a black Ford Fusion fleeing the scene towards Troy. A “Be On The Lookout” notice was issued for the car, which was observed by a North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper. The trooper pulled over the vehicle and arrested the suspect without incident.

The alleged shooter has been identified as Troy resident Kevin Ratliff-Lofton, 23. Ratliff-Lofton formerly resided in Philadelphia and knew the victim. He was charged with murder and is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center.

During the inquiry, it was learned that Troy Police Department officers had responded to a child custody dispute at the suspect’s apartment earlier in the day on Saturday. The Biscoe Police Department claims Ratliff-Lofton followed Murray to the Walmart where the shooting occurred.

This is an ongoing investigation; anyone with information regarding the crime can call Detective Comer at 910-428-2978.
