The Aberdeen Police Department has reported the arrest of William Branch, 35, of Rockingham.
On December 9, 2021, Aberdeen cops were summoned to Walmart in response to a larceny and purposeful miss-scanning of merchandise.
When Aberdeen officers arrived, they spoke with asset protection officers, who informed them of a guy, later identified as Branch, who reportedly went through self-checkout and purposefully under-ringed things.
Aberdeen officers later examined the event and, after analyzing witness testimony and video footage, validated the report’s facts, according to a press release from the Aberdeen Police Department.
On January 24, 2022, investigators confirmed Branch’s identity and secured a warrant for felony obtaining property under false pretenses and misdemeanor theft.
Branch was not captured in Moore County, despite numerous attempts to locate him. Branch was apprehended in Richmond County on November 3, 2024, and appeared before a court. Branch was granted a secured bond of $1,500 and is deemed innocent until proven guilty in court.
