SSI payments of up to $472 will be issued for these eligible beneficiaries, here is the new date Social Security gave

Not every person who gets SSI gets the same amount of money. Some Americans think that Social Security pays for the Supplemental Security Income program, but it doesn’t.

These payments for low-income Americans are paid for by the Federal Government. That means the money doesn’t come from the SSA Trust Funds. It depends on how you qualify whether you get a bigger or smaller payment.

In this case, you can only get up to $472 if you are an important person. You can get up to $943 if you have a low income, few or no means, are blind, disabled, or at least 65 years old. While married couples who qualify can get up to $1,415 a month. The 2025 COLA increase is not included in any of these numbers.

New SSI payment date for December

For your information, all beneficiaries who were qualified got their November Supplemental Security Income payment. The checks and direct transfers were actually sent out on November 1, 2024.

Not so if you pay close attention to when Social Security pays out. There is no SSI check scheduled for December 1. The payment has not been taken away; it has just been reset to be sent two days early.

SSI will be sent on November 29, which is like getting two checks or direct payment in the same month. Still, it’s just the December payment that was made early.

Why is there an SSI payment in late December?

The Social Security Administration will have to make big changes again. The January 1 payment for Supplemental Security Income can’t be made on a Federal Holiday.

Because of this, SSA will send it out on December 31, 2024. This means that about 7.5 million recipients will get the 2025 COLA raise before millions of other retirees in the United States. From December 31, 2024, these are the most that people who get SSI will be able to get.

  • Largest benefit for an essential person from December 31, 2024: $484
  • Largest benefit for an individual from December 31, 2024: $967
  • Largest benefit for a married couple from December 31, 2024: $1,450
