Lady who thought sister was joking when she said her newborn daughter was named after her fights back tears when she realizes she’s being serious

A woman who assumed her sister was kidding when she stated her infant was named after her breaks into tears when she finds she is telling the truth.

Despite a seven-year age difference, Katie Staten, 23, known as Kate, and Brook Fondriest, 30, of Dayton, Ohio, have always been quite close, frequently swapping jokes and making each other laugh.

Kate has always looked up to her elder sister, and she felt privileged when she was asked to attend the birth of Brook’s most recent kid.

Kate added that the delivery was going to be thrilling because Brook and her husband, Danny, didn’t know the baby’s gender, so it would be a total surprise.

The couple had a name in mind for their child, and after she was born at Miami Valley Hospital, they chose to tell Kate.

Brook discreetly began filming her brother-in-law holding his newborn baby for skin-to-skin contact while having a fictitious conversation with Danny regarding the eventual name.

With Kate observing, Brook asked, “What about, like, Millie Kate?” Danny said calmly, “Sounds good.”

Kate, taken aback, responded simply, “Yeah, right!”.

But then, after a short pause, she asked her sister, “Are you serious?” and received the wonderful news that her niece will be taking her name.

Kate then softly repeated “Millie Kate” before erupting into tears of happiness when Danny told her that his daughter resembled Millie Kate.

Kate stated, “My sister urged me to go sit beside Danny so she could take a picture of us and Millie.

“I had no idea she was recording until she told me her name was Millie Kate.

“Given our fun-loving friendship and our tendency to joke about, I wondered if she was serious.

“When she answered yes, I was overwhelmed with pleasure and love.

“When I heard Millie’s name, I felt a strong connection to her and fell even more in love with her.

“I couldn’t believe something so wonderful had the same name as myself.

“It was, and is, truly the greatest honor.”
